Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted the spring sale of Registered Whitebred Shorthorn Cattle on behalf of members of the Whitebred Shorthorn Association on Friday 25th February 2011 when 4 bulls and 1 female were forward.

Corrie Knight

The pre sale show was judged by Mr J Ions, High Thorneyburn, Falstone, Hexham who awarded the Championship to Corrie Knight, a June 2009 bull, bred and exhibited by Keith Laurie, Snowdon Close, Gilsland. Sired by the homebred Corrie Galaxy, this bull was knocked down at 2,000gns to Messrs Frater, Alnwick.

The third prize bull also from the Corrie herd, Corrie Baron, a July 2009 was knocked down at 1,900gns and finds his new home with Messrs Johnson, Ninebanks, Hexham.

New breeders J&G Hunt, Ellerton Croft, Southwaite sold their March 2009 bull, Cerridwen Lancaster for 850gns, he now travels to Cornwall with Messrs Harper, Advent.

The only female offered in the sale, a 9 month old heifer bred by Messrs Kyle, Spoutbank, Walton created much interest, which included telephone bids. Spoutbank Hannah, carrying both Blackburn and Burnedge breeding was eventually sold at 1,300gns to Messrs Richardson, Kirkby Lonsdale.
